Judge Bukreev who had sentenced Budanov declares trial violations

On April 22, the Moscow Garrison Military Court will continue debates on the case of Vladimir Bukreev accused of bribe-taking. Bukreev, who passed a verdict of guilty in 2003 to Colonel Yuri Budanov for murdering a Chechen girl, is complaining of violations in the course of the trial.

"The point is not in my consent to the term asked by the state prosecutor," Vladimir Bukreev said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "I wouldn't agree even with a month-long punishment. I don't plead guilty whatsoever. For debates, the defence has prepared some three hundred pages telling about the violations admitted by prosecution in the course of preliminary investigation, and then during the trial."

Among these violations, Bukreev named falsification of evidences and juggling with witnesses. "In the course of the trial, the overwhelming majority of our petitions were rejected, in our opinion, in violation of the law. But I wouldn't like to speak about it in detail ahead of time, let's wait for the defence's presentation," he said.
