Employees of hospital in Chechnya complain of non-payment of part of salaries

In Kurchaloy District of Chechnya, during the last two months, part of salary money of the medical personnel of the district hospital was deduced. The medical people are indignant but fear to complain.

This is asserted by one of the nurses of the Kurchaloy Central District Hospital (CDH). According to her story, in February, 750 roubles were withdrawn from employees' salaries "for far-fetched reasons", and in March - from two to four thousand roubles.

According to the woman, the medical staff of the hospital, although extremely dissatisfied with the events, nevertheless, would not like to address the respective bodies with complaints against wrongful actions of their bosses. "Firstly, even if we write a complaint, there is no hope that someone will be punished for illegal deduction of a part of our salaries. Bosses will always pay off. Secondly, the one who complains is at risk to get fired. The complainant will be either simply thrown out, or face such conditions that he or she will be compelled to leave," the woman explained. "Since we have mass unemployment in the republic, nobody will risk losing his or her piece of bread."

A spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health said in this context that no complaints has ever arrived from the medical staff of the Kurchaloy Hospital on illegal deduction of salaries, and then refused to give any further comments. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told the same in the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya.
