Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan approves indictment to Dinara Butdaeva

The Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan has approved the indictment on the criminal case against Dinara Butdaeva, accused of participating in illegal armed formation (IAF) and of illegal purchase, storage and transportation of firearms. She will be punished by deprivation of freedom.

The Office reports that "the inquiry has established that in early September 2008 Butdaeva, following instructions of her brother Vadim Butdaev, active IAF participant, illegally purchased, kept and transported a Kalashnikov sub-machine gun. It was bought via another IAF member."

The Prosecutor's Office asserts that the above Kalashnikov was used by Vadim Butdaev in an attempt on the life of law enforcers in Makhachkala.

Dinara Butdaeva is a sister of Gyulnara Rustamova, one of the founders of the Public Human Rights Organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights". In law enforcers' statements Dinara Butdaeva was repeatedly named as an activist of this organization. However, according to the Board Chair Svetlana Isaeva, Dinara Butdaeva has nothing to do with the "Mothers of Dagestan".

Rustamova and Butdaeva are sisters of Vadim Butdaev, who was in command, as Dagestan power agencies assert, of Makhachkala grouping of militants. He was killed in a special operation in Makhachkala in autumn of 2008.
