Abkhazia denies categorically deportation of Georgians out of Gali District

Abkhazia refutes the news about eviction of 50 Georgian families out of the Gali District, which was promulgated by the Georgian MIA.

The MIA of Georgia has stated that last night special services of Abkhazia deported several dozens families out of Otobaya village, Gali District, and that 30 heavy armoured vehicles were deployed in the District.

"Nothing of the sort happened there," said Ruslan Kishmariya, representative of the Abkhazian government in the Gali District, in his comments on the information about alleged deportation of Georgian families, as quoted by the Reuters.

Lavrentiy Mikvabiya, coordinator of power agencies of the Gali District of Abkhazia, has also accused the Georgian party of lie. According to his version, there was also no deployment of heavy vehicles of Russian Armed Forces in the District; there was just ordinary rotation of armed units, as the "Polit.ru" reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia asserts that the incident can aggravate the already tense situation in the region.

The MFA has stated that they are clarifying the details of the incident and verifying the information; then the Georgian party will take all necessary measures.
