In North Ossetia, fairs will help to confront the crisis

On February 20, the Republic's government adopted the regulations on organization of fairs in the territory of North Ossetia. In the opinion of the Ministry of Economy, fairs can help to counteract the implications of the global crisis.

The idea stems from this ministry, where experts believe that holding fairs will satisfy to the best extent the needs of the population for foodstuffs and other goods and make conditions for local farmers and peasants to sell their products.

"The ceiling prices on the products will be fixed relative to the existing ones in the retail network," Sergey Kalitsov has explained. "This is a measure of state regulation caused by the well-known consequences of the crisis."

"If fairs are really held on weekends on a regular basis, it will at least somehow help us to get rid of dearness," Zara Adyrkhaeva, a resident of Vladikavkaz, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "People are scared by the crisis, the apartment rent went up, and foodstuff prices wouldn't go down."

They plan to hold three categories of fairs: agricultural, universal and specialized.
