Chechnya: local resident detained as suspect of helping militants

On February 1, law enforcers detained a resident of the Staropromyslovskiy District of the capital of Chechnya, who, according to the investigation, in 2007 supplied foodstuffs to members of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

"Yesterday, in the course of joint actions conducted by employees of the Staropromyslovskiy District Interior Unit (ROVD) of the city of Grozny, ORB-2 (Operative-Search Bureau) and Urus-Martan ROVD, a local resident of 28, suspected of complicity in IAF actions, was arrested Katayama settlement of the Staropromyslovskiy District," a source in law enforcement bodies of Chechnya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The detainee has confessed that in 2007 for several months he supplied foodstuffs to members of one bandit group. Now, the inspectors check his possible involvement in grave crimes," said the source.
