Deputy Minister of Interior of Karachaevo-Circassia to inform Bairamkulov's relatives about the course of investigation

After the non-sanctioned protest rally held yesterday, on January 27, in the central square of the capital of Karachaevo-Circassia, Oleg Babenko, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Karachaevo-Circassia and Head of Criminal Militia, had a meeting with relatives of businessman Boris Bairamkulov, who was killed in Dombai.

"We've agreed with the protesters that we'll timely and objectively inform the relatives and friends of the missing Boris Bairamkulov about the course of search and investigatory actions undertaken by law-enforcement bodies. This case is under our special control, and we'll make all the efforts to find his whereabouts," the press service of the President of Karachaevo-Circassia quotes Mr Babenko as saying.

The Deputy Minister made this decision after the wife of the victim promised to commit suicide.

We remind that on January 27, in Cherkessk, the capital of Karachaevo-Circassia, about 200 participants of the protest rally accused law enforcement bodies of inaction when investigating the death of the entrepreneur.

Vyacheslav Taranenko, assistant of the head of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for Karachaevo-Circassia, has stated that the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are engaged in operative-search actions, however, it is difficult to detect the location of Bairamkulov's body because of unwillingness of the detainees to help the investigation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the investigation, Bairamkulov's murder was opened: the suspect, whose name was not disclosed, was detained and confessed of committing the crime.

Boris Bairamkulov disappeared on January 13. However, the criminal case under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder") was initiated only on January 15, after a group of protesters blocked, together with relatives of Deputy of the People's Assembly Islam Krymshamkhalov, shot dead on January 13, the traffic in the Federal Highway Dombai-Cherkessk. The participants of the protest action demanded to find Bairamkulov and continue investigation of other resonant criminal cases.

Pavlina Bairamkulova, wife of the businessman, said in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she saw with her own eyes her husband to come into the "Snezhinka" (Snowflake) Hotel; he promised to come back in half an hour. "Before leaving, my husband explained that he had received a call from Edik Marshankulov, whom he wanted to meet and take something from him, but it would not take long," Ms Bairamkulova recollects.

The wife of the missing businessman continued: "Muratbi Marshankulov, father of the brothers arrested on suspicion of the murder told us: 'You will get nothing. Nikolai Osyak, Minister of Internal Affairs of Karachaevo-Circassia is in one of my 'pockets', and Sapar Laipanov, Mayor of the city of Karachaevsk, is in another 'pocket' of mine.' But then he promised us to bring the body within 30 minutes; he took money from the safe in the presence of witnesses, and then disappeared," the victim's wife said.
