Slaschev School pupils in Volgograd Region feel satisfactory

The hospitalized pupils of the Slaschev boarding school located in Kumylzhen District of Volgograd Region are receiving in full all the necessary medical aid. Now, the doctors assess their health condition as satisfactory. A special operative staff is engaged in investigating the incident.

"Children are treated at infectious wards of the Kumylzhen and Mikhailov Central District Hospitals. All the patients have light and medium disease gravity," journalists were told at the Public Health Committee of the Volgograd Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was reminded at the press service of the Regional Administration that 24 pupils of the boarding school for orphans and children remaining without parents' care arrived to hospital on December 12-13 with complaints of nausea and stomach pain.

Last Sunday, December 14, 10 more pupils who had contacts with those 24 were also hospitalized.

"In the course of examination of the boarding school by experts of 'Rospotrebnadzor' (Federal Consumer Goods Supervision Agency), a number of violations were revealed," said Alexander Zlepko, head of the Agency. "The kitchen is poorly equipped with process appliances, food storage rules are neglected; there is no logbook to fix the temperature in refrigerators. The four cooks have no hygienic training and attestation. Besides, the menu included a meal forbidden for use in school public catering - cottage cheese with sour cream without thermal treatment."

According to preliminary data, the pupils of the boarding school arrived to hospital with suspicion of dysentery.
