Chechnya investigates the terror act that killed four persons

Law enforcement bodies of the Chechen Republic continue investigating the circumstances of the terror act in Sadovoe village, Grozny District, committed at night on November 23, when three employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya, including deputy commander of the "Oil Regiment", and one local resident were killed, and eight more person, five militiamen among them, were heavily wounded.

"Last Saturday, at about midday, in Chuguevskaya Street in Sadovoe village, Grozny District, unidentified persons shelled from their automatic firearms the militia 'Niva' car, which was parked near the house of Musa Talkhadov, serviceman of the Regiment of the Division of Extra-Departmental Security (DEDS), and then disappeared. Immediately, a group of the militaries from the Regiment arrived to the venue; it was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Lecha Talkhadov, deputy commander of the DEDS of the Republic's MIA. Residents of adjacent houses also rallied there. At that very moment, a powerful explosive was triggered planted near the house," a source in the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya has reported.

"In situ, the explosion killed Lieutenant Colonel Talkhadov, two militiamen and a local resident. Five militiamen and three local residents were wounded," said a Chechen militia officer.

The Regiment of the Division of the Extra-Departmental Security at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic, also known as "Oil Regiment", was created in autumn of 2003. The regiment is deployed in Grozny, and its formal mission is to protect oil fields, oil- and product-pipelines, industrial and other objects. The regiment is also actively involved in warfare against participants of armed formations in the mountain and submontane part of the republic, and in various "special operations" conducted in the territory of the republic.
