Pitsunda to host international forum "Abkhazia-2008. Investments, Prospects"

The international economic forum under the motto "Abkhazia-2008. Investments, Prospects", organized by Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Abkhazia with the help of the Republic's Government, will take place on June 17-21 in the sea report of Pitsunda.

The forum will be attended by CCIs of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation, Republics of Northern Caucasus, Turkish cities of Trabzon, Istanbul and Adapazary, as well as representatives of business circles of Turkey, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to Gennady Gaguliya, president of CCI of Abkhazia.

The participants of the forum plan to discuss investment projects and programmes for different spheres of the economy of Abkhazia, in particular, investment proposals for agriculture, industry, processing industry, wholesale trade, power engineering, construction and transport.

  • Court obliges MoF to pay 100,000 roubles to compensate Sochi pensioners for criminal case

    Today, the court ruling of May 24 has come into force, according to which the Russia's Ministry of Finance (MoF) has to pay 100,000 roubles to Klara and Valentin Donchi-Ool, a pensioners' family couple from Sochi, in compensation for moral harm suffered from a criminal case unlawfully opened against them. The amount awarded by the court is ten times smaller than the spouses had claimed in their lawsuit; however, they will not challenge the ruling.

  • Dagestani residents give more than 1500 historical photographs for exhibition "Portrait of the Nation"

    Organizers of the exhibition "Dagestan: Portrait of the Nation" offered residents of the republic, who had in their family archives photos from the 19th and early 20th centuries to take part in the art project. As a result, the organizers received 1500 works, of which they selected for the exhibition more than 300. Besides, the exposition presents works from leading museums of Russia, Georgia, and the United States.
