UN subjected Russia to sharp criticism, for it took forced measures to return Chechen refugees home

The UN department on refugees subjected Russia to sharp criticism, for it took forced measures to return home Chechen refugees living in Ingushetia.

Chris Yanovsky, a representative of the department, informed that 200 refugees had been turned out by force from the tent camp "Bella" in Ingushetia the other day.

The department showed a protest to Russian authorities. A Chechen authority official announced on Thursday that all tent camps of Chechen refugees in Ingushetia would have been liquidated by October 1. A presidential election in Chechnya is scheduled for October 5.
