"We will not surrender "School of Peace"!" Lyudmila Alekseyeva announced in Krasnodar

More than fifty participants gathered for a round-table discussion "Public Organizations in Krasnodar region: Persecution Continues", which took place in Krasnodar. They discussed a situation arisen around the Novorossiysk Fund "School of Peace". As it was reported at the Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights, the main department of justice of the Krasnodar territory tries to liquidate the "School of Peace" through court, proceeding from the fact that the organization has only one founding member, the other two left it in 1999-2000.

Moscow Helsinki Group Chairwoman, the member of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of Russia Lyudmila Alekseyeva also participated in the round table discussion. She said, "A public appeal will be handed over personally to the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. We will not surrender the "School of Peace"!"

Complex examinations of public organizations' work started after the Krasnodar Territory Security Council had made an appropriate decision. Originally the main department of justice made claims on the Creative Union "Southern Wave". As experts believe, claims to exactly these public organizations are connected with their active position on the advocacy of Turks-Meskhetians' rights.
