Search for Chechen people abducted by Russian military men

Zavodskoy District of Grozny:

1. Akayev Aslan, 1971 year born

2. Akayev Beslan, 1983 year born

3. Shidayev Shamkhan, 1971 year born

4. Shidayev Umalt, 1984 year born

All four lived in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny (the Karpinsky barrow). They were abducted by officers of Russian power structures on the night of August 3, 2003. The whereabouts and further fate of the brothers Akayevs and brothers Shidayevs has not been ascertained yet. The cause of the abduction is unknown.

Stariye Atagi village, Grozny (rural) region:

1. Esambayev

2. Yupayev

3. Takayev

All three are residents of the village of Stariye Atagi in the Grozny region. On August 4, 2003 they were detained by officers of Chechen power structures and driven away in the unknown direction. Their whereabouts and further fate remain unknown.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them. In the village of Starye Atagi, Urus-Martan District, about 50 members of the Saif-Islam Elmurzaev family, suspected of setting the above car on fire, have been kidnapped; and about 30 people have been kidnapped in the Shali District, the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence (CHRD)* has reported.
