Sources report details of CTO in Dagestan

During the counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Dagestan, law enforcers blocked five apartments at once, and two suspects were detained without opening fire, without attracting the attention of residents, a source reported. The special operation took place as part of strengthening security after the terror act in the Moscow Region, announced Sergey Melikov, the leader of the republic.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that three suspects plotting terror acts were detained in Makhachkala and Kaspiysk during the CTO on the night of March 31. According to the information of the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC), the suspects were detained with automatic firearms, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device (IED).

Two of the three suspects – migrants from Tajikistan – were taken out of the rented apartment without resistance, the “Kommersant” reports. In an apartment building in Kaspiysk, law enforcers evacuated residents of neighbouring apartments and had to use smoke bombs and break out windows in an apartment on the fifth floor to force a tenant to surrender.

The “Kommersant” reports with reference to its source that all three detainees worked on construction sites in Makhachkala and Kaspiysk, while being simultaneously engaged in cryptocurrency transactions.
