Contract soldier from North Ossetia convicted of absence from unit

The Vladikavkaz Garrison Military Court has sentenced Marat Khabalov to 5.5 years in penal colony for his two-month absence from his military unit. His defence has challenged the verdict.

The Court has sentenced him under the article of unauthorized abandonment of the unit.

According to the court, Khabalov, who was performing his military service under a contract, left his duty place on February 24, 2023, and was absent there until May 10.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the above Military Court had sentenced Alan Ezeev, a contract military serviceman, to conditional imprisonment, finding him guilty of leaving his military unit without permission. He was absent from service for more than two months.
