Two policemen arrested in case on Kurban Dalgatov’s death

In Makhachkala, a court arrested two police detectives on charges of using torture against detainee Kurban Dalgatov, reported the Supreme Court of Dagestan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Amina Dalgatova, a widow of Kurban Dalgatov, a resident of Makhachkala, who died after being detained by law enforcers, complained that unidentified people were posting threatening comments on social networks. Shamil Khadulaev, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, reported that the total number of detainees in the case of the Kurban Dalgatov’s death had reached seven.

On January 21, Kurban Dalgatov was taken to a Makhachkala police department, after which he died. His relatives claimed that Kurban Dalgatov died of suffocation after he “got electric shocks to the heart area.”

The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested two detectives of the police department for the Sovetsky District of Makhachkala in a criminal case on Kurban Dalgatov’s death after torture, reported Zarema Mamaeva, the chief of the press service for the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan. According to her report, the police officers are suspected of exceeding their official powers with the use of torture, resulting in the death of a person through negligence, the RIA (Russian News Agency) “Novosti” reports.
