By protests, Makhachkala townspeople achieve resumption of power supply

On August 26, residents of Gamidov Avenue in Makhachkala went out to protest against power outages. After their action, the city Mayoralty reported on the restoration of power (electricity) supply.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since August 9, several protests against power outages have been held in Makhachkala. On August 25, local residents blocked motor traffic in the dwelling settlement of Semender, after which the Mayoralty announced the resumption of electricity supplies.

Makhachkala townspeople should fight more actively for their rights through submitting official complaints about power outages, Dagestani activists have suggested.

A video from the place of the spontaneous rally was posted by the “Chernovik” Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that on August 18, traffic along Akushinsky Avenue was blocked by residents of the “Nauchny Gorodok” (Scientific Settlement) micro-district in Makhachkala, who demanded that the authorities solve the problem with the supplies of water and electricity. On August 17, protests were held in Akushinsky Avenue; on August 16, local residents blocked Gamidov Avenue; and on August 15, residents of the Reduktorny settlement tried to block the road. Residents of Makhachkala said that problems with electricity and water supplies were observed before, but last year they worsened.
