In April 2021, one person was killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In April 2021, one person was killed during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On April 28, in an outskirt of Nazran, near the North-Ossetian-Ingush border, law enforcers stopped a tinted Toyota Camry car for inspection. The driver put up armed resistance and was killed by return fire. According to preliminary information, the casualty was a resident of the village of Kantyshevo, who had earlier been put on the wanted list.

One of the Ingush law enforcement sources said that a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) was killed in the shootout. The next day, referring to another source, the "Fortanga.org" reported on its Telegram channel that the killed Kodzoev "had been wanted in connection with the use of violence against state officials, but did not take part in any IAFs."

The “Caucasian Knot” notes that the provided statistics cannot reflect the number of victims with 100 percent accuracy. Not all information is included in the news reports. It is not always possible to check the reliability of the statements voiced by the law enforcement bodies. Besides, new facts about the events of the reporting period become often known after the statistics had been already published on the “Caucasian Knot”.

On April 22, an armed incident occurred in Kizlyar (Dagestan). At a detention attempt, two unidentified persons opened fire at law enforcers. One of them immediately surrendered, while the other ran into an apartment building at No. 26 Shevchenko Street and took refuge in one of the apartments in the fourth level. The area was blocked off; and the second attacker also surrendered to the police. Nobody was hurt during the incident. One of the detainees is Shamil Omarov, born in 1988, the other is Zubairugadzhi Yusupov, also born in 1988; both are residents of the Stavropol Territory.

In March 2021, no victims of the armed conflict were recorded in Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya.
