Kalmyk militia blamed of negligence during nationalistic disorders

The employees of the District Interior Department of the Priyutnenskiy District of Kalmykia have been charged under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence), the "Vesti. North Caucasus" reports. The militiamen are suspected of exhibiting inactivity during the interethnic disorders that took place in late October in the village of Vorobyovka, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

At the end of October, a fight burst out at a discotheque in the village of Vorobyovka, during which a visitant of 24, a Dagestan resident, wounded with his knife two teenagers of 16, one of whom later died. The suspect was immediately detained and taken in custody. He was presented charges on two Articles of the Criminal Code.

Several hours after a rally of residents held in the village on October 31 on the occasion of the discotheque incident, some young people armed with a rifle came to the cattle-breeding farm, where the attacker on the teenagers was a guest, and during a quarrel that broke out there shot dead a cattle breeder of 49.

The militiamen happened to be near the cattle-breeding farm where the murder was committed but did nothing to prevent the crime.
