Four residents of Dagestan face fines for dancing lezginka on roadway

Internet users argue about the behaviour of four residents of the Kayakent District, accused of administrative offence after they had danced lezginka in the middle of the roadway in Derbent. The young people face administrative penalties for violating parking rules.

According to the police, two hours before the New Year, four residents of the Kayakent District, aged 20 to 30, stopped their cars on the roadway, thus blocking the passage for other cars, and danced lezginka on the roadway.

Policemen who patrolled the area brought the young people to a police station. Lezginka dancers explained that they "wanted to celebrate their friend's birthday and the upcoming New Year holiday," the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan reported on January 1.

Administrative protocols were drawn up against the young people under articles on disobedience to a policeman's lawful order and violation of the rules for stopping or parking vehicles. The lezginka dancers face fines of 500-2000 roubles.

"The police did the right thing. Such fellow countrymen should respect other fellow countrymen," wrote user Troll05.

"Did someone die because the guys blocked the street and danced lezginka? [...] Let them have fun while they are young! They were not drunk, and they had no fight," user "d" objected.
