"Beanpole" by Kantemir Balagov put on the list of 50 best films of the year

The film "Beanpole" by film director Kantemir Balagov from the KBR (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic) took the 21st place in the list of 50 best films, according to the British Film Institute (BFI).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this May, Kantemir Balagov received the Best Director Award in the contest programme of the Cannes Film Festival "Special Viewpoint" for his "Beanpole" film. In October, he became one of the 93 "Oscar" Academy Award nominees for the Best Foreign Feature Film. In November, the film became the best in the nomination of full-length films at the Geneva International Film Festival. On October 15, "Beanpole" was honoured with a special prize at the Stockholm Impact Award Festival.

The film by Kantemir Balagov from the KBR, has become the only Russian movie in the BFI rating, with its 21st place among the best 50, the "Afisha" Russian website writes.

Experts note Balagov's "psychological acuity", calling him "a significant artist."
