Court upholds verdict in case on plotting of attack on cathedral in Makhachkala

The court of appeal dismissed a complaint filed by the defence about the verdict to Omar Aliev, sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment for plotting the killings of parishioners of the Orthodox Holy Assumption Cathedral Church in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, the court found Omar Aliev, a native of Dagestan, a supporter of the "Islamic State", a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, guilty for plotting the killings of parishioners of the cathedral in Makhachkala. Omar Aliev was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment.

According to investigators, on June 19, 2018, Omar Aliev filmed on a mobile phone camera himself swearing allegiance to the IS, and on the other day, he arrived with a zip gun to the Holy Assumption Cathedral Church to kill parishioners.
