Russian Embassy reacts to Bilalov's detention in USA

The Russian Embassy to the USA has asked the US authorities to confirm the media reports about the detention in Miami of Akhmed Bilalov, a former president of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "North-Caucasus Resorts".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhmed Bilalov headed the above OJSC and was Vice-President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) until February 2013, when Vladimir Putin demanded to dismiss him from all the posts for the disruption of the construction schedule of Olympic facilities.

The Russian Embassy to the USA expects a reaction from the US State Department regarding information about Akhmed Bilalov's detention in Florida, the TASS reports today.

Akhmed Bilalov was detained on October 22 in his house in Miami by the US immigration services, the "Kommersant" reports today, citing the "Miami Herald" newspaper, but not specifying the reason for the detention.

Akhmed Bilalov, together with his brother, Magomed Bilalov, went abroad after a criminal case was initiated against him. The brothers were put on the wanted list; they were arrested in absentia, the RIA "Novosti" informs today.
