Azerbaijani journalist Fuad Abbasov is prepared for deportation from Russia

The advocate of the Azerbaijani journalist, Fuad Abbasov, said that his client would be expelled from Russia today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, in Moscow, Fuad Abbasov, the head of the Centre for Information Initiatives, was detained on charges of violating the immigration legislation. During the detention, Abbasov was beaten up, his advocate, Elman Pashaev, has stated. It was expected that Abbasov would be deported to Baku in late May. During that period, protests against his deportation were held in front of the Russian Embassy to Azerbaijan.

Teyub Sharifov, another Abbasov's advocate, said that tonight his client would be deported from the Russian Federation to Baku by an air flight.

Let us remind you that at night of February 15, a scuffle took place at the "Neolit" café in Moscow. According to eyewitnesses, from 50 to 100 people took part in it – natives of Chechnya and Azerbaijan. Abbasov declared that the instigator of the mass brawl was a citizen of Russia of Armenian origin, and publicized his passport details. In his turn, the passport holder stated that he was not involved in the incident. Then, Abbasov was detained. According to his story, he was not allowed to contact an advocate and his relatives for five days.
