Azerbaijani resident wounded on Armenian border

The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported a detention of a violator of the Azerbaijani border. The man was a resident of the border area; the militaries wounded him in the leg.

The incident occurred in the north-eastern section of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, in the area of the positions of one of the Armenian military units, said Artsrun Ovannisyan, the spokesman for the Armenian MoD. "The offender got a wound to the lower limb, after which he was given first aid and transferred to the medical centre," Mr Ovannisyan said, adding that nothing threatens his life.

The detainee had documents on him stating that he is Elvin Ibragimov, a 33-year-old resident of the Gazakh District of Azerbaijan. A criminal case has been opened, Mr Ovannisyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The detention took place today at about 1:30 a.m. The resident of Azerbaijan did not give up his attempts to cross the border, even after receiving a warning, the "News.am" reports with reference to the Armenian MoD.
