Activist Bagaudin Khautiev detained after rally in Sunzha

Bagaudin Khautiev, the head of the Council of Youth Organizations of Ingushetia, has been detained by law enforcers after an unsanctioned rally near the building of the Sunzha District Administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that activists and residents of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia came to the building of the district administration after the news about the resignation of Issa Khashagulgov from the post of the district head. Khashagulgov treated his resignation as voluntary, but activists regarded it as a protest against the transfer of a part of the district to Chechnya. The rally in Sunzha demanded explanations from the officials on whether it was really planned to transfer a part of the territory of Ingushetia to Chechnya.

In late August the NGO "Support of Ingushetia" announced that some construction works began in Ingushetia by workers from Chechnya under the protection of Chechen law enforcers, and about an attempt to set up a road-and-patrol (DPS) post of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) near the Ingush border village of Arshty. NGO activists then complained to the "Caucasian Knot" that Ingush authorities had left these actions of the Chechen side without public reaction.

Bagaudin Khautiev was detained around 7:15 p.m. Moscow time, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported 20 minutes later.

According to the information of activist's supporters, Khautiev was taken to a unit of one of power structures.
