Defence disagrees with verdict to teens in Tbilisi

The advocates of the teenagers convicted in the case of killing schoolboys in Tbilisi have appealed against the judgement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, 2017, as a result of a brawl in Tbilisi, two schoolboys were stabbed and died.

The May 31 decision of the Tbilisi Court to partially acquit the two more teenagers, accused of killing the schoolboys, triggered mass protests. The casualties' relatives demanded to bring Irakli Shotadze, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Georgia, to justice; he had to resign. Also, protesters demanded other urgent dismissals in the justice system.

Eka Macharashvili, an advocate of one of the teenagers, has stated that her client should be charged with another article. The teenager "exceeded the limits of the necessary defence, and not an attempted wilful murder, for which he was convicted," she has clarified.

Inga Sharashenidze, an advocate of another teenager, pointed to the lack of evidence of the crime, of which her client was accused.
