Sellers clash with law enforcers at a rally in Khasavyurt

Today, in Khasavyurt, several dozen sellers of a city market have gathered in front of the city administration building to protest against the planned demolition of the shopping arcade.

A video from the scene shows that a large crowd of people gathered in front of the two-storey building and blocked the road. The video also depicts how on one side of the street, a clash between women and law enforcers occurred, while on the other side of the street, policemen formed a tight row on the road to restrain the crowd. The video is posted on the YouTube channel of the RIA "Derbent".

The spontaneous rally was attended mainly by women who owned outlets at the market. There was a verbal skirmish between the law enforcers and protesters, and shouts were heard, the news agency reports. According to the report, the protest action has begun when today, sellers have failed to get to their places and have been informed about the decision to close the market.

The city authorities have made the decision to close the market and demolish the shopping arcade, since they consider the facility had been built illegally, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.
