Three Ingush residents detained for shooting at wedding party

Five young men opened fire from the car of a wedding cortege in Nazran. Three of them were detained, the remaining two have been declared wanted.

The offenders are men aged from 21 to 25. Two submachine guns, two pistols and ammunition were confiscated from their car, the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia has reported; two other suspects are wanted.

Shooting is common at Caucasian weddings. However, according to Magomedkhan Magomedkhanov, an expert of the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Dagestani Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, this custom is not historical.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2017, the head of Ingushetia ordered the police and officials to accompany wedding corteges for security reasons.
