Activists point to role of charity in Syrian repatriates' fate

Till present, Circassians from Syria continue to come to Kabardino-Balkaria, and those of them who have already arrived need material support, local Circassian activists reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Circassian activists from Kabardino-Balkaria and other Russian regions raised money for medical treatment of Syrian Circassian Dina Tamukh in Russia, but it became impossible to transport the patient because of deterioration of her condition. Therefore, the woman's relatives refused to accept the money raised for her medical treatment.

Olga Efendieva-Begret, a co-founder of the "Ochag" (Hearth) foundation created to help compatriots, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the money raised for Dina Tamukh would be transferred to the needy repatriates.

Activists report that the Circassians who arrive in the republic often experience financial difficulties and actions in their support continue to take place in the republic.

"Many repatriates do not enjoy basic household items like a refrigerator or a washing machine," said Beslan Khagazhei, a member of the board of the public organization "Paryt".

Meanwhile, he has emphasized that assistance is provided to the neediest families.
