Stavropol activist demands to withdraw troops from Syria

Today, in Stavropol, a solo picketer has demanded from the Russian authorities to eliminate corruption and stop military intervention in Syria and Ukraine.

At 11:00 a.m. Moscow time, the young man went to his action in a park next to the government building of the Stavropol Territory. The main slogans of his picket were written on the banner, reading: "Stop killing", "Return troops from Syria and Ukraine", and "Stop Stealing", and "Corruption and Officials' Offshore Companies become a Standard". According to the picketer, the slogans are addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The activist does not treat his claims as impracticable. "These demands can be fulfilled by any presidential candidate, any president, any person ... The demands have nothing in common with extremism," Maxim Peshkov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

A picketer has admitted that his protest action had been prompted, first of all, by a high level of corruption in Russia. "That's very unpleasant that in our country we have a normal attitude toward corruption. In Russia, it is quite acceptable to bribe a road police inspector or doctors. I served in the army, and I know how the officers are being appointed in the army for money. And this is presented as a standard, although this, of course, should not be so," said Maxim Peshkov.
