Tbilisi Mayor demands dismissals after metro accident

The repair of the Varketili metro station before the ceiling collapsed there was carried out with violations, Kakha Kaladze, the Tbilisi Mayor has stated, suggesting firing the employees, who had accepted the project.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 30, a part of the ceiling at Varketili station collapsed, injuring 14 people. To save money, authorities had changed the renovation project of the metro station, ignoring architects' recommendations, experts have stated.

The Mayor Kakha Kaladze instructed to dismiss the employees of the Tbilisi transport company, who participated in the procurement of design works at the Varketili metro station, the "Georgia Online" has reported today.

Let us remind you that the suspended ceiling at the metro station was mounted over the old structure. The founder of the company, which had carried out the repairs, has stated that this was the requirement of the Mayoralty.
