FSB reports success in searching for attackers on paratroopers in Chechnya

Today, the Russian FSB has reported that Faizbek Amangaziev and Arslan Valiev, sentenced to long terms of imprisonment for attacking paratroopers in Chechnya, were found due to the testimonies given by earlier sentenced attackers.

At night on March 1, 2000, fighters of the sixth squadron of the 104th Airborne Parachute Regiment of the Airborne Forces went into combat with a grouping of militants led by field commanders Shamil Basaev and Khattab in the Chechen village of Ulus-Kert. Then, 84 of 90 federal fighters were killed, and four others were wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 29, Faizbek Amangaziev and Arslan Valiev were sentenced to 16 years and 15.5 years of imprisonment, respectively, on the charges of banditry and encroachment on the life of soldiers and officers.

Today, on its website, the Russian FSB has published an official release detailing how the involvement of Faizbek Amangaziev and Arslan Valiev in the attack on the Pskov paratroopers was confirmed.
