Georgian citizen detained in Turkey for ties with Chataev

At Tbilisi's request, Turkish law enforcers have detained Gocha (Ali) Saginadze, a Georgian citizen and an Akhmed Chataev's acquaintance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhmed Chataev, wanted in Russia and placed on the US sanctions list, was among the three militants killed in a special operation held in Tbilisi on November 21-22.

According to Georgia's State Security Service (SSS), Saginadze was detained on December 26 in the province of Trabzon near the town of Of. Materials related to the "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in Russia) were found on him.

His wife was also detained, the "Rustavi-2" TV Company reports. Both of them were in Turkey illegally, the "Milliyet" newspaper writes.

Let us remind you that on December 26 Georgian law enforcers conducted a special operation in two villages of the Pankisi Gorge. Four detainees were accused of supporting terrorism; they were arrested. Another young man, Temirlan Machalikashvili, was wounded and is now in hospital.
