Imam Shamil's dagger sold for USD 731,000

At the Christie's Auction, the Imam Shamil's dagger, made approximately in 1841, has been sold for 548,700 pounds sterling (731,000 US dollars).

The dagger was put up for auction on November 27. The organizers estimated it at 50-70 thousand pounds sterling (66,500-93,100 US dollars). The experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", doubted the authenticity of the dagger.

The official website of the Christie's says that the dagger has a traditional shape with a carved ivory handle encrusted with golden foliage. The blade is decorated with a golden pattern.

Earlier, the Christie's sold other exhibits related to Imam Shamil, in particular, the picture "Capitulation of Gunib Aul and Imam Shamil's Imprisonment on August 25, 1859" by Russian painter Franz (François) Roubaud for 125,000 US dollars.
