Remains of 86 soldiers buried in Chechnya

On October 1, in the Naur District of Chechnya, the remains of Soviet soldiers, who perished in 1942, including at least 14 Armenian natives, were reburied. The Armenia’s Ambassador to Russia took part in the ceremony.

The remains of 86 Red Army soldiers, who perished in the Great Patriotic War (traditional Soviet name for WW II, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), were buried in a mass grave in the village of Isherskaya, Naur District.

Natives of Georgia, republics of Northern Caucasus and Cossacks were among the remains.

They were found in March-April 2016 and this September by search units from Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Moscow, and Belgorod and Smolensk Regions.

"In 1942, the territory of our district saw the fiercest battles against fascist troops, who were trying to capture the city of Grozny. There is evidence that over 12,000 Soviet soldiers perished in the battles," the Naur District Administration reports.

Let us remind you that in Chechnya, the public organization "Poisk" (Search) is engaged in searching for the remains of the militaries, who perished in the Great Patriotic War.
