Court allows people come to Dagestani police with mobile phones

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has recognized as illegal the prohibition to carry mobile phones and other video shooting devices into buildings of police stations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March, the Soviet District Court dismissed the claim filed by advocate Madina Alieva to find illegal the ban on carrying mobile devices to a police building.

Madina Alieva has attached to the case a response from the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), explaining by a "complex situation in Dagestan" the ban to carry to the territory of all police facilities the technical means of communication, including smartphones and tablets providing access the Internet and audio- and video recording.

"None of staff members of the MIA has the right to demand from an advocate to hand over against his or her will at entrance to a police building a mobile phone that is his or her property," the "Chernovik" (Draft) quotes the Court's decision as stating.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 7, 2012, the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia allowed advocate carrying dictaphones and photo cameras to penitentiary institutions.
