Makhachkala resident goes on hunger strike because of criminal prosecution

In the course of a solo picket in Makhachkala, Kerim Fatakhov, a resident of Dagestan, has demanded to objectively consider his case in court.

Kerim Fatakhov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was detained twice: on October 6, 2016, and on January 6, 2017. As a result, two criminal cases were instituted against Kerim Fatakhov for storing weapons and drugs.

"The charge of possession of weapons have been removed; however, now they bring me to court for possession of drugs," Kerim Fatakhov said.

According to him, the case is being considered in court. "The prosecutors do not want to interrogate my witnesses and always postpone court hearings when journalists come to them," Kerim Fatakhov noted.

Today, Kerim Fatakhov went to a solo picket with a poster reading: "Help to achieve justice." "I want an objective, impartial, disinterested consideration of my case. However, so far, it is not the case," the man has explained without specifying the details of his case.

Kerim Fatakhov has also stated that from today he goes on hunger strike until his case is returned to the Prosecutor's Office.
