Over 250 Rostov Region residents complain about theft of parcels in Russian Post
In Rostov-on-Don, staff members of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) helped to prepare complaints for 255 citizens who claimed the loss of their parcels after reports on disclosure of mail theft.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 22, in the area of the "Avral" yacht club, a resident of Rostov-on-Don found dozens of empty packages from postal items with addresses of recipients in the Rostov Region. The man appealed to the "Rospotrebnadzor", the Prosecutor's Office and the hotline of the "Russian Post". An employee of the "Russian Post" was detained by policemen on suspicion of stealing parcels, and a criminal case was instituted on theft. The "Rospotrebnadzor" opened a hotline for the recipients of the parcels stolen in Rostov-on-Don.
The "Rospotrebnadzor" Department for the Rostov Region accepted 255 calls to the hotline after reports on discovery of dozens of empty packages from postal items on the bank of the Don River. This was announced by the report published on the website of the "Rospotrebnadzor" Department for the Rostov Region on July 29.
According to investigators, a 30-year-old man stole parcels during unloading items at a postal sorting centre. He hid stolen items in the trunk of his friend's car and threw packages from parcels in bushes on the river bank.
