Two Krasnodar female athletes win medals at Deaflympics

Marina Grishina, a track-and-field athlete from the Krasnodar Territory, has won the long jump event at the Deaflympic (Surdolympic) Games; and Polina Smirnova, a Sochi lawn tennis player, has won a silver medal there.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Deaflympics Games are held from on July 18-30 in the Turkish city of Samsun.

Earlier, Ruslan Askerov, a judo wrestler from Dagestan won this year's Deaflympics; and together with three other Dagestani wrestlers, he became a silver medallist of the team event.

On July 27, Polina Smirnova also became a champion in the mixed category, the Ministry of Sports of the Krasnodar Territory reports, adding that earlier Marina Grishina had won a bronze medal in the 100 meter run.
