Film from Georgia wins two prizes at festival in Croatia

The film "House of Others", a debut work by director Rusudan Glurdjidze, was awarded prizes at the film festival held in the Croatian city of Pula. The film described a story of two families during the civil war in Georgia.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2016, the film "House of Others" won the "Golden Prometheus" prize at the 17th International Film Festival in Tbilisi.

Actress Salome Demuriya was awarded the Best Actress Prize for the film "House of Others". The film itself won the award for the best film from the jury of the FEDEORA (International Federation of Critics) jury, the "Sputnik Georgia" reports with reference to the national centre for cinematography.

The film is focused on a story of two families who survived the war in Abkhazia. Since they supported the winners, they were allowed to settle in abandoned houses of the defeated side. However, it seems that they are not able to start a peaceful life there, and the war continues in their daily life, the "Kinopoisk" reports.

The drama "House of Others" is a joint work by film makers from Georgia, Russia, France, and Croatia. In 2016, at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, the film was awarded the Grand Prix. Georgia nominated the film for the Oscar in the nomination "Best Foreign Language Film", but it was not included in the list.
