In Sochi, spouses request Prosecutor's Office to verify legality of policemen's actions on June 12

Spouses Darya Cherkasskaya and Arthur Volkov-Minullin have appealed to Arthur Shmoilov, Prosecutor for Adler, with a request to conduct a check with regard to law enforcers who detained them during the action of Navalny's supporters on June 12. The spouses claimed that they had been detained unreasonably.

"My wife and I were just walking in the centre of Sochi, on the occasion of the Day of Russia. We had absolutely no symbols on our clothes, we did not hold anything in our hands, we shouted no slogans, and we had nothing forbidden with us. During the detention, we were forced to show the content of our backpack without witnesses and without drawing up an inspection protocol," said Arthur Volkov-Minullin.

Without introducing themselves and showing their IDs, the law enforcers demanded from the spouses to produce their passports. The spouses showed their passports, and after that they were asked to go with the law enforcers without any explanation of the reason. Darya Cherkasskaya and Arthur Volkov-Minullin explained that they decided not to argue with the law enforcers and went with them. They were brought to the police station and released only several hours later.

"During the whole period of time spent by us at the police station, police officers drew up no protocol of transportation to a police station and no protocol of administrative offense," said Arthur Volkov-Minullin.

On July 6, the spouse sent an appeal to the Prosecutor's Office. In their appeal, they asked to check the legality of the policemen's actions.
