In Nalchik, they demolish hostel with tenants

Builders have started dismantling the building of the hostel in Malbakhov Street in Nalchik, although people still live in it. Part of the building is ruined; power and water supplies are off, the tenants have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2016, in Nalchik, in the dilapidated hostel of the former flour milling factory seven families lived. After the bankruptcy, ruled by the Arbitration Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), and liquidation of the factory in 2006, the hostel was not included in the resettlement programme from dilapidated and emergency housing.

The second floor of the hostel and the adjacent territory were sold to a local entrepreneur, said the tenants. Now, on his initiative, the building is being demolished.

The entrepreneur said that he had paid 600,000 roubles to every tenant of the hostel; however, two families refused to move.

"They want to solve their own housing problems at my expense," he said.

Khaishat Mamukhova said that she would not be able to buy an apartment for a family of four for 1.2 million roubles. She demands a compensation of 1.85 million roubles for her apartment in the hostel.

The entrepreneur refused to pay this amount and began crushing the building.

Vladimir Tumov, the head of the public movement "Kabardino-Balkaria's People Control", has treated what is happening as "lawlessness". After his visit, as well as after the visit of the district policeman, the demolition of the building was stopped.
