Resident of Georgievsk accuses law enforcers of fabricating a criminal case

On June 6, the Georgievsk City Court held the preliminary hearings on the case against Azerbaijani citizen Mekhman Guliev, a resident of Georgievsk, accused of illegal trafficking in arms and drugs. This was told on June 8 to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by advocate Alaudi Musaev.

On March 7, according to public prosecutors, Mekhman Guliev was stopped by law enforcers on suspicion of committing an administrative offense. He behaved suspiciously and that gave the law enforcers grounds for assuming his involvement in transportation of banned substances and items.

The investigators claim that during the search of Mekhman Guliev, the law enforcers found a narcotic substance, a revolver with seven rounds inside it and 50 other rounds.

The defendant has informed the Court that the prohibited items had been planted on him by the law enforcers.

Mekhman Guliev has suggested that the law enforcers planted the prohibited items on him at a request of his brother's business rival. "On March 11, when I was kept at the IVS (temporary detention facility), I was visited by a [law enforcer] who threatened me and demanded from me to give up advocates and defame myself in committing crimes. I also identified him as a person who planted on me weapons, ammunition, and drugs during the detention," Mekhman Guliev reported to the Court.
