Truck drivers from Kabardino-Balkaria join protest action in Moscow

The protest action of truck drivers in Moscow involves drivers of seven trucks from Kabardino-Balkaria. The drivers of the heavy trucks are seeking the abolition of the "Platon" system and claim unreasonable detentions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since May 21, Moscow hosts protest actions of truck drivers, including carriers from Dagestan, Ryazan, Saratov, Orenburg, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow.

All-Russia protest action against Platon system was resumed by truck drivers on March 27. Protesters demand to abolish the transport tax, reduce fuel excises and cancel the "Platon" system introduced to collect tolls from drivers of heavy trucks on federal roads.

According to Nikolai Naumov, the chairman of the public organization "Protection of Drivers' Rights in Kabardino-Balkaria", the protest action involves seven truck drivers from Kabardino-Balkaria. He has also noticed that not all truck drivers on protest could get to the place of the protest action and that some trucks were stopped at the entrances to Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Nikolai Naumov that the protesters continue to voice the same demand for the abolition of the "Platon" system. According to Nikolai Naumov, the truck drivers did not receive any response to their appeal to the State Duma.
