Andrei Rudomakha: activities of "EcoWatch" blocked by court proceedings

The Supreme Court of Adygea has rescheduled for May 17 the consideration of two complaints filed by the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch) against the Maikop City Court's resolution, which fined the organization 300,000 roubles, and Andrei Rudomakha 100,000 roubles. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Andrei Rudomakha, the coordinator of the "EcoWatch".

According to him, the consideration of the two complaints has been postponed because of the change of the judge.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the "EcoWatch" has also noted that "in fact, the court proceedings paralyzed the activities of the organization." According to Andrei Rudomakha, the "EcoWatch" is involved in six lawsuits.

"The 'EcoWatch' actually faces a choice to cease its activities or continue to defend itself from endless attacks, at the expense of useful public activities," said Andrei Rudomakha.

According to him, after the start of legal proceedings, the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" has suspended the implementation of a number of major projects. However, the coordinator did not specify which projects had to be suspended.

"We have to take part in lawsuits, since we do not have money to pay fines. If courts decide not in our favour, our organization will not be able to continue its activities," stated Andrei Rudomakha.
