During the week of May 1-7, 2017, one person was killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The killed man was a suspected member of the armed underground in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On May 7, in the village of Nadezhka of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, law enforcers were shelled when they tried to verify an ID of a 31-year-old man. He was killed by return fire, and none of the law enforcers was injured. The killed suspect was identified as a resident of the village of Trisanchi of the Dakhadayevsky District of Dagestan. According to the law enforcement agencies, he was a member of the armed underground.

Detentions

At night of May 3, in Makhachkala, inspectors of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) detained two young men, born in 1993 and 2000. At a police station, law enforcers searched the detainees and found firearms with ammunition. From one suspect, the law enforcers seized a "Saiga MK" carbine with more than 60 pieces of ammunition and a black mask with a slot for eyes and gloves. From the second detainee, the law enforcers seized a self-made "Nagan" pistol with more than 10 cartridges. The detained young people were on the wanted list, and the police had operative information concerning one of them that he was plotting a suicide bombing for the May holidays.

On May 4, the law enforcement agencies reported about the detention of two residents of the Kursk District of the Stavropol Territory, who had with them TNT and plastid blocks, ammunition and grenades for rifle-attached grenade launchers. Agents of the FSB Department for the Stavropol Territory together with staff members of the regional Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) and fighters of the National Guard of Russia tracked the persons suspected of arms traffic, acted as buyers and purchased 1.5 kg of dangerous prohibited substances. Other 4 kilograms of ammunition were found at the place of residence of the suspects. All the seized items were destroyed.
