Dagestani truck driver claims threat of provocations from law enforcers

In Dagestan, participants of the protest action against the "Platon" system are afraid that, against the backdrop of the protest lasting almost a month, the most active truck drivers will face provocations from law enforcers. This was stated by one of the protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27, Russian truck drivers resumed mass protests. They demand to abolish the transport tax, reduce fuel excises and cancel the "Platon" system introduced to collect tolls from drivers of heavy trucks on federal roads.

On April 25, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent told by one of the protesters who introduced himself as Magomedov that some truck drivers had been standing at the general protest camp near the town of Manas for almost a month already.

"We come to the protest one after another. Until present, the authorities keep silence, and we believe the Dagestani authorities want to wait until we leave the place by ourselves. The media keep silence about what is happening. We understand what we stood up against, and we understood that we would not be heard at once," said the protestors.

Meanwhile, according to him, law enforcers were instructed to gather information about the most active participants of the protest.

In that regard, truck drivers fear that in the future, there may be provocations aimed at discrediting their protest in the eyes of ordinary people. According to Magomedov, the protestors are also afraid that law enforcers "will start punishing especially active people on protest."
