In Norway, native of Ingushetia arrested on suspicion of storing explosives

The Oslo District Court pronounced the decision to arrest for two weeks a 17-year-old Russian citizen, a native of Ingushetia, who was detained with an improvised explosive device. The young man does not admit his guilt and involvement in terrorist activities. This was reported by his advocate.

On April 8, near the “Grenlann” metro station, Norwegian policemen detained a suspicious young man with a box containing an IED-like item. The area where the incident happened was cordoned off, and visitors to nearby cafes and restaurants were evacuated. After that, combat engineers destroyed the IED at the place.

When commenting on the situation, Signe Aaling, the chief prosecutor for the Norway's Police Security Service (PST), has reported that it was a primitive explosive device of low power. On April 10, the young man was arrested for 14 days. Benedict Bjoernland, the head of the Norway's PST, has informed reporters that the detainee is suspected of possession of explosive substances.

At present, the security services of Norway and Sweden are checking the possible connection of the arrested man with the Stockholm terrorist, who on April 8, in the centre of the city, drove a truck into the Åhléns department store. Four persons were killed under the truck's wheels, and 15 others were injured.
