Spectators of "Aftermath" do not treat Arnold Schwarzenegger as Vitaly Kaloev
Today, in Russia, cinemas have shown the American film "Aftermath" based on the story of Vitaly Kaloev, a native of North Ossetia, who in 2002 lost his wife and children in a plane crash over Lake Constance. Vitaly Kaloev was sentenced for killing an air traffic controller whom he treated as a person guilty of the tragedy. The first spectators of the film have noted a good actors' game; however, according to them, the main character of the film does not look much like his prototype.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the main role in the film was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Vitaly Kaloev himself did not participate in the creation of the film. However, he has expressed the opinion that "the young people can draw instructive conclusions from the film." According to the Deputy Minister of Culture of North Ossetia, the film may become a gamble on Vitaly Kaloev's tragedy.
The plot of the film almost completely repeats the events from the Vitaly Kaloev's life. However, the authors moved the scene to the US: to the city of Columbus in Ohio, and the main character of the film was builder Roman Melnik, a Russian immigrant.
The film directed by Elliott Lester and written by Javier Gulllon is constructed as an intertwining of the stories of Roman Melnik and air traffic controller Jake Bonanos involved in the plane crash. Like in real history, the main character finally kills the person whom he considers guilty of the death of his family members.
In February 2017, Vitaly Kaloev himself said that he did not expect anything good from the scenario, although he appreciated Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role of "big, kind men."
